Critical Access

Preferred Management Corporation started managing hospitals with Critical Access designations at about the time these designations were available. PMC is the manager for the first hospital in Texas to receive such a designation, taking the hospital from the point of application, through the development and implementation of Critical Access Status, to successful surveys, and now, to ongoing management and constant evaluation of the status.

Critical Access designation may be beneficial to community hospitals in certain geographic locations. PMC begins investigation of the status by first determining, with a thorough financial review, if the designation would be beneficial to the hospital given the hospital's ongoing operations. PMC then advises the Board of Directors about its findings. Based on the decision of the Board to proceed, PMC is completely capable of implementing the designation, from start to finish, including ongoing management of the Critical Access business operations.
