Hospital Management

Hospital Management is Preferred Management Corporation's primary line of business. Other areas of management and consulting have occurred because of hospital management but it has always been our primary and undiluted line of business. Three partners founded PMC in 1987. The partners, as of 2003, have over 80 years of experience in health care administration. The partners, whose careers all began in community hospitals, have elected to stay in community hospitals after stints in metropolitan hospital and national health care management companies. Each of the partners likes working directly with staff members and enjoys the more involved administration that community hospitals offer.

PMC has varied and expansive experience in hospitals, but communication and hands-on management are considered the strengths of the company. PMC has demonstrated its ability to work with and for Boards of Directors, work with Medical Staffs, uses its experience to develop and work with hospital staff, and oversees the financial management of the hospitals. PMC has a variety of experiences in construction projects, bond issues, and formation of tax districts as well.

PMC most commonly hires the administrator who remains an employee of PMC, with the approval of the Board of Directors. In some instances, PMC provides other key employees as necessary and appropriate to the hospital. PMC provides recruiting for on site administrators, presents the administrative candidate for Board interviews, and accepts the recommendation of the Board of Directors in matters of hiring. Once an administrator is hired, PMC works with the administrator, who, in turn, works at the direction of the experienced administrators at PMC to provide administrative services to the hospital.

In addition to managing usual and customary hospital operations, PMC is experienced with some services that are not routinely offered by all hospitals, such as psychiatric unit management, skilled nursing services, home health programs, freestanding outpatient departments, and ambulance management.
