Physician Opportunities

The Preferred family of 16 Critical Access Hospitals and Rural Health Clinics contracts with or employs 30 physicians and mid-level providers.

Our physicians are committed to the communities they serve and like to deliver medicine the way they were trained to practice: to take care of the whole family from newborns to seniors in the clinic, hospital and emergency room.

We are currently seeking like-minded physicians for the following locations:

Wellington, Texas - Collingsworth General Hospital and Collingsworth Family Medicine

Van Horn, Texas - Culberson Hospital and Van Horn Rural Health Clinic

Junction, Texas - Kimble Hospital and Junction Medical Clinic

Muleshoe, Texas - Muleshoe Area Medical Center, Muleshoe Family Medicine Clinic and Medical Clinic of Muleshoe

Friona, Texas - Parmer Medical Center and Friona Rural Health Clinic

Hemphill, Texas - Sabine County Hospital and Sabine Family Medical Center

Eldorado, Texas - Schleicher County Medical Center and Schleicher County Family Clinic

West Texas

Our communities are primarily located in West Texas and range in size from 2,500 to 11,000 residents. While each location is distinctly different, at the center of each is a warm and welcoming community that both appreciates and supports the healthcare services provided.

Settings range from Hill Country to the High Mountain Desert to the Texas Panhandle, with opportunities for land ownership and numerous hunting and recreational activities. More detailed information about the characteristics of each community can be found by clicking on the More Information box below the name of our hospitals.

Benefits of a Preferred Location

Almost all of our physician employment agreements are through a Texas 501(a) corporation with

    - 28 days vacation annually
    - Health insurance, 401(k), yearly CME allowance
  • Stipends while in school, relocation benefits and sign-on bonus negotiable
  • Medical school loan repayment opportunities
  • Most facilities are members of the National Health Service Corps and eligible for the NHSC loan repayment program.
  • Mid-level provider support:
    - Typical staffing ratio of 1 or 2 mid-level providers per physician
    - Great hospital & clinic staffs
    - Up-to-date equipment & facilities
